Kenyan African Nationalism is centred on Kenya, but the book also makes pertinent observations on the Eastern African and African scene. It particularly explains Kenya's pragmatic national management based upon peace, love and unity; the Nyayo philosophy. It elucidates the role of this philosophy in Kenya's national life - the principal tenets of national guidance. Because of this pragmatism, the philosophy and its special application to Kenya, the author illustrates it with a selection of Kenyan peoples, scenes and activities. The book treats many scenes in depth. Thus, it analyses the evolutionary milestones in the development of African Nationalism in Kenya. Other current scenes include the evolution of leadership, and the role of women, the youth, the intellectuals and the administrators in nation-building and in national progress. The author restates his convictions which crystallise the two fundamental structural reforms in national development. These reforms are the District Focus Strategy for Rural Development and the 8:4:4 educational system. Finally, this book reviews the challenges to the OAU, the emergence of the one-party system in Africa, and the realisation of a peace formula for Kenya, Africa and the world.
